Futures for Kids (F4K) is a unique resource for North Carolina, providing a setting for the business and educational communities to work together to ensure the success of the next generation. Through F4K, students can explore an extensive range of careers, including several suggested to the student based on their personal interests and skills, as well as connect with the business world through online mentors and companies across North Carolina.
Students can ask the mentors questions regarding their various career fields, receiving valuable advice on schools, resume-building experiences, and the specifics of various specialties within the field. They can also look up companies that hire for the different careers, and ask questions about the company specifically. In addition, F4K provides a venue for businesses to post opportunities for the students, such as job shadowing and internships, giving companies a chance to invest in their local community. This overlap not only reinforces the relevance of school for the students but also serves as an economic development tool to cultivate our native workforce.
